Artists for the Barnes: Jen Furlong

Jen Furlong studied Art Education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. For the past 8 years, she has specialized in figurative art, particularly the female figure. She's currently a resident artist at the Everleigh Social Club in Chicago.

This painting was the first in her series of screaming portraits. Inspired by the fundamentals of Surrealist thinking and the aggression of Francis Bacon, this painting laid the foundation for most of her paintings since.
