O'Brien's work has been exhibited and published by such groups as Whitney Museum of American Art, University of Texas at Austin, Cornell University, ND Magazine, Metro Riquet, British Journal of Photography, MIT, Rice Media Center, University of California at Davis, and Hallwalls.
 
O'Brien's work is part of private and public collections worldwide; including The Museum of Modern Art.
